Dear SACHES Member,

It is unbelievable, but another year has passed. This is my end of the year message to all of you.

I have received the unpalatable news of the passing on of prof Wolfgang Mitter, renowned comparativist of Germany who have also visited South Africa.
More information at: http://www.dipf.de/en/dipf-news/news/wolfgang-mitter [1]

We have had a successful conference in 2014, in Durban in August 2014.

For the next SACHES conference then, that will be the 2015 annual conference, we have in mind one of two venues in the Eastern Cape (Katberg or Hoggs Back) during mid-August. It seems we might be lucky enough to have current WCCES president dr Carlos Torres, of UCLA, as plenary speaker. Early in January I shall round up the two SACHES stalwarts, Jo-Anne Adams and prof Petro van Niekerk, to help me to commence with the planning of this conference. I shall keep you posted.

I also wish to alert you to two other international, high quality, not expensive Comparative Education conferences in planning for 2015, in which I am involved:

  • The bi-annual conference at the University of Crete will take place 27-30 May.
For full details see website http://www.pedagogyofhappiness.com/ [2] You are also welcome to write to me should you require more information.
  • The conference of the Bulgarian Comparative Education Society will take place 10-13 June, Sofia Bulgaria.
For full details see website bces-conference.org
You are also welcome to write to me shoud you require more information.

Finally I wish to wish all of you a happy festive season and rest, and a productive 2015. I shall be back soon in the new year.

Yours faithfully,
Prof. C.C. Wolhuter
